3 herbal teas that boost your libido

Updated: Apr 6, 2018

People that are more tech-savvy than me often say, "there's an app for everything", don't they

Well, since I'm more into sexual and physical wellness than tech, I say more often "there's an herbal tea for everything".

Herbal teas have always been a wellness must-have for me: they improved the health of my acne-prone skin when I was younger, relieve my actual contraceptive pill induced bloating and simply give me a moment of caffeine-free relax when I feel overwhelmed by PMS mood swings. I could never live without my cup of chamomile tea in the evening.

But did you know teas can be helpful in the bedroom too? I tried them during a period when I was fighting against low libido and even if I must admit they wouldn't have worked alone without calling for help also sexual fantasies, new sex toys and a little ethical but enjoyable porn, I must say some herbs played a role too.

Now I already can hear some readers ask astonished, "how can you suffer from low libido if you're a sex blogger, even a dildo reviewer?" Yes, those things sadly happen to sex positive women too: for me, it had a lot to do with our female hormonal stuff and with a contraceptive pill switch.

Here we go: my herbalist explained me that the most helpful herbs for sexual wellness are the ones that increase the blood flow everywhere in the body including your private parts, making them more sensitive and receptive with a positive effect on libido as well. An energizing effect is helpful too, especially for guys that when struggling with low libido face some erection difficulties: after all, who wants to think about sex when exhausted?

Here are the three herbal teas I found the most useful:

  1. Ginger tea. Ginger is the best at promoting an increase of the blood flow in the body including your intimate bits. In that low libido moment of my life I was struggling with achieving my usual mind blowing clitoral orgasm and I feel that, along with sensitivity-enhancing gels and lubricants of the best brands, switching green tea with ginger tea helped. To prepare it, I simply boil for a few minutes a slice or two per cup of ginger root.

  2. Guarana and ginseng. This is not a simple DIY tea like the ginger one: I bought it in a ready herbal mix at the herbalist's shop. But it helped with my tiredness due to the hormonal disorders I was going through and I had new energy for always planning a new sexy, kinky experience with my partner. I felt less stressed and as a natural consequence I came back to think more about sex. I hear from male friends this tea is helpful for midway performance letdowns too.

  3. Maca. This is a root and you have to buy it at a specialist shop or online, but it boosts testosterone production in your body, which means stronger erections for guys and more libido for women. I think many low libido cases are caused by hormonal disorders so putting things back in place with some herbal remedy is a great idea, however, before going to change your body's actual hormonal balance, I would suggest to ask a doctor.

Some foods too help with the "increase your blood flow down there" thing: my favorite ones are chocolate and chili pepper.

Have you ever tried herbal teas for a little help in the bedroom? Leave me your comments (and recipes!) in the comments!
