500 ml of basic water-based lubricant: who wouldn't want such a stockpile of our favourite bedroom essential?
Luckily, the Dutch condom brand Safe has got us covered: its Safe Lubricant Waterbased comes in a half-litre format, so even the kinksters like me, who make large use of lube, will never risk again to run out of their stock in the heat of the moment!
The packaging
The huge pump dispenser bottle comes in white and bright teal. I love everything about its design: the heart lock symbol, the bright colours and the cute fonts used for the wording.
On the back, I can find directions for use in multiple languages, the INCI and some info about the company: their official website, and the hashtag #enjoysafe that allows to follow their Instagram and Facebook profiles.
According to what's written on the bottle, the product is best if stored in a cool, dark place, and if used within 12 months after opening. At the bottom, I find an expiry date (04/2021) and a lot number.
The INCI
Ingredients: Aqua, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate.
As you can see, the INCI is pretty short.
Glycerin is a common ingredient in water-based lubricants, but it's not recommended to women who suffer from frequent yeast infections: it's a sugar alcohol and it may promote the growth of Candida. Hydroxyethylcellulose gives to our favourite lubes that distinctive jelly-like consistency, while Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate are preservatives: they guarantee that this 500ml staple of sex lube will last for a long time, without being contaminated by bacteria or other nasties!
The product is completely free from parabens, and it's compatible with latex condoms.
The product
The product is a basic unscented, unflavoured water-based lubricant: it has a lightweight gel consistency, and it doesn't feel sticky at all. I found that it doesn't have a chemical aftertaste if it comes in contact with the mouth.
It definitely does its job: a little quantity of the product creates a nice gliding effect, that's relatively long-lasting, considering that it's a water-based lubricant. This way, the 500ml bottle will last for months!
In Summary
Since lube runs out very fast at my home, having a 500ml stock of water-based glide is a wise solution to avoid last-minute trips to the not-so-near local sexy boutique.
If you shop online, it will save you money in the long run: you will need to pay less often the shipping fees for your lube purchases.
