This week I'm going to review some sex essentials for the quality-focused German brand I'm learning to love: MEO.de. Today I'm learning a lot abot sex toy hygiene while testing the VERYCLEAN 2.0, kindly sent to me by Wolf, director at MEO.
Once again I'm pleased to see the usual plastic hygiene seal on my new product: I thinks it's even more important on spray sex essentials, to prevent spills caused by the cap getting lost during shipping: it happens, and I guarantee no one likes to find the packaging all wet from the leaked product and inside, the bottle half empty.
The first thing that catches my attention while getting the VERYCLEAN 2.0 in my hands is the subtle yet pleasant scent I can smell even through the unopened plastic seal. I would describe it as flowery, summery and delicate: it reminded me immediately of a sunscreen hair protection spray I use on the beach and it put me in a good mood. It isn't alcoholic at all and not overpowering.
This is a new pleasant discovery for me: I had only used before unscented toy cleaners that, to be honest, didn't smell very good: they reminded me a little of hand sanitizer or disinfectant, which doesn't exactly put me in the mood for sexy time, especially if I want to clean my accessories before play.
Also, I'm pleased to read on MEO's official website that I can use this spray to sanitize hands too, since it's alcohol-free. Hand sanitizers usually worsen dryness on my constantly chapped hands, but I found this very delicate. Perhaps it's because of the Panthenol in this spray: a moisturizing and soothing agent.
But now I will take a closer look at my new product's INCI:
Ingredients: Aqua, Propylene Glycol, Hexamidine Diisethionate Phenoxyethanol, Neohesperidin Dihydrochalcone, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Parfum (Fragance), Panthenol
I know, I know: here's Propylene Glycol again. It may not be the healthiest thing for your skin since it's a derived from petrol, but it has been approved by FDA to be safe, even as a (limited use) food additive. See more about Propylene Glycol in this other review of mine, related to MEO's Cock Candy Oral Sex Gel.
PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil also isn't the healthiest or most natural ingredient to find in your cosmetics: on EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetics Database I read that it may be contaminated with potentially toxic impurities. However, it has been approved as safe by FDA.
Hexamidine Diisethionate Phenoxyethanol is the antibacterial and antifungal active principle.
Here we go: it's time to try the VERYCLEAN 2.0 on my sex toys! I'm glad to see that the instructions for use are clearly stated both on MEO's website and on the label of my product's bottle:
For hygienic cleaning, rub your hands/the objects with 3 ml of VERYCLEAN 2.0 for 60 seconds. While cleaning, make sure your hands/the objects are kept moist with this product.
Great: looks like no rinsing is needed. I have some non-waterproof vibrators that I struggle to clean without being able to put them under running water: this would solve the problem!
The 60 seconds stated on the instructions are exactly the time required for the spray to dry. On my favourite silicone toy it didn't leave any residue so I feel confident enough to skip my usual rinsing routine.
On products made from TPE, like stretchy cock rings and male masturbation sleeves, I feel like a good rinse under lukewarm water is needed: this material is more prone than silicone to catch up dust and lint from storage bags, and the spray alone isn't enough to remove this kind of dirt .
The 200ml bottle is quite big and I think it will last a lot of time since no huge quantities of product are needed. At 9.99€ (8.71£ and 12.95$ on April 3rd 2018) I can say it's sold at a reasonable price.
Overall I liked the VERYCLEAN 2.0 for its fresh flowery scent, because it doesn't need to be rinsed and I will buy it again since I think it's good value for the money.
If you would like to try it yourself, buy yours at MEO's official online shop.
