Lately, I’ve been looking for interesting sex-themed podcasts to listen while on my way to work: what better way to spice up those sleepy mornings, while at the same time finding brilliant new topics for my blog posts?
So, when I stumbled upon the account @ErstiesPodcast on Twitter, I knew immediately that I had found exactly what I was looking for.
I am already a fan of Ersties’ natural amateur porn scenes: I find that they’re a nice change of pace from the artificial feel of many mainstream adult videos, and they’re seriously hot! So, why not listening to Paulita, Lina, Olivia and Pandora’s podcast too?
But, let’s get to know better the amazing women behind Ersties Podcast first!
Paulita Pappel is a feminist pornographer, founder of Lustery.com which is a tasteful compilation of user submitted porn videos. She’s also been a guest director for Erika Lust: she’s the creative brain behind the XConfession episodes Female Ejaculation and Birthday Surprise.
Lina Bembe is a Mexican adult performer, based in Berlin. I saw her often performing in XConfessions by Erika Lust: for example, I will never forget her as one of the protagonists of the surrealistic short film ‘Meanwhile in a Parallel Universe’, directed by Hadas Hinkis and appeared in XConfessions Vol.8.
Olivia is an editor and writer in the adult industry. On the ‘Meet the Team’ page at Ersties Podcast’s official website, she presents herself as ‘highbrow sexter, lowbrow cultural critic’. I’m sure that her point of view about sex, porn and the adult industry will be very interesting to listen!
Scrolling through the same ‘Meet the Team’ page, I come across Pandora too, who presents herself as ‘Inappropriate comment maker, awkward social situation connoisseur. Napper, wine drinker and all round sassy lady. Currently on a journey towards becoming a good feminist. Right now settling for title of BAD ASS Woman.’. I’m even more curious about those four ladies and what they have to tell the world about sexuality!
So, I think the time has come to put my headphones on and start listening to my first Ersties Podcast episode. The latest two ones, ‘Censored’ Part 1 and Part 2, cover a topic that’s very dear to me: Internet censorship.
As a sex blogger I experience this in first person: I’ve never posted nudes and I’m not interested to do it, but I always find pics of my dildos and vibrators removed from various social media. Surprisingly, lately I’ve seen removed from Facebook even a photo of a crotchless lingerie item displayed on my bed.
The Part 1 focuses on the controversial British law, that should get into effect by the end of the year: it will force porn websites to implement a mandatory age verification system, with all the related privacy issues, to access their X-rated material.
God I can’t believe that those girls actually went all around the London Porn Film Festival to interview industry representatives and experts, such as Justin Santos, CEO and founder of Joybear Pictures, Holly Randall and Pandora Blake.
I can say I actually listened all the 1:13:45 seconds of the episode all in one shot: I didn’t realize the time was passing! The Part 2, instead, fascinates me with a clever retelling of the 18-century erotic novel ‘Fanny Hill!'
Then, I look for different, more light-hearted topics. I’m attracted by the catchy title of the episode #5,‘I Kink Then I Am’, and I hit play. I love this episode that's all about personal kinky stories, and the ‘Sexting 101’ talk with the former dominatrix Liliana Valásquez.
Other topics analyzed by the Ersties from their critical, intelligent and sex-positive point of view, are the adult industry and sex work, like in the episodes #2 (‘Why The Fucking Would You Pay For Your Porn?’) and #4 (‘The Rise Of Camming’).
Instead, the episode #3 (‘Spreading the love and literally f*cking algorithms’) is a fun talk about polyamory and online dating: the kind of chit-chat I’ve always dreamed to have with sex-positive, open minded friends that unluckily don't exist in my offline life! Also, as you can read, the titles are very catchy!
New episodes of the Ersties Podcast are released the first Friday of every month: I’m already looking forward to the next, that should be available on the 6th of July! Those girls' in-depth analysis of sex-related topics and their fun, fearless way of talking about them has definitely convinced me: I would like to listen in the future more episodes about sex work, pornography and censorship, but also about kinks, fetishes and sexuality in general. Also, why not a sex toy themed episode?
