It's been a while since I saw for the first time, on the shelves of an erotic boutique in my local area, a sex lubricant infused with Cannabis Sativa extract. Since then, more and more brands have created sexual wellness products enriched with the moisturizing, nourishing extract from Cannabis' seeds: I know that the Cannabis Lubricant from Cobeco Pharma is very popular, along with the skincare range Provocatife from Sensuva, enriched with hemp seed oil.
So, I was extremely curious when I noticed that one of my favourite brands, the Spanish Nuei Cosmetics, had created a vegan, cruelty-free range of cannabis-infused sexual wellness products: that's why here I am, ready to test and review the Oh! Holy Mary - Cannabis Pleasure Oil and Sliding Gel.
The Cannabis Pleasure Oil
The Oh! Holy Mary - Cannabis Pleasure Oil comes in a pretty green cardboard box, with a big leaf of weed pictured on it. Honestly, I would have mistaken it for the packaging of a perfume - perhaps one that smells like weed!
Inside the box, the 6ml bottle of the product looks tiny in my hands: perhaps the oil is very concentrated, so a little goes a long way.
On both the outer box and the green label of the bottle I can find all the informations I need about the product: the Period After Opening (12 months), the INCI and some directions for use.
The INCI is not too long:
Ingredients: Olea Europaea Fruit Oil, Oleyl Alcohol, Zanthoxyluym Bungeanum Fruit Extract, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Cinnamomum Cassia Oil, Eugenol.
The Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil is there for real: this way, we're sure that Nuei's claims on the box are not just a publicity stunt, but they indicate the real active principle of the product.
Olea Europaea Fruit Oil and Zanthoxyluym Bungeanum Fruit Extract are powerful nourishing and anti-age cosmetic ingredients, while Cinnamomum Cassia is a plant from the family of cinnamon: I suppose that it will have the same warming, tingling and stimulating effect of the well-known spice in the end product.
Eugenol is derived from clove oil, and it's common as a fragrance in various kinds of beauty products. Oleyl Alcohol is an emulsifier.
As soon as I open the bottle, the tiny dropper lets me know that only a very small quantity of the product is required to fully benefit from its effects. The strong clove scent is not really to my liking, and not very sensual to be honest.
This oil, with its yellow colour, reminds me a little of those medicinal essential oils my grandmother used to apply on her handkerchief when I was a kid, however, its consistency is much more lightweight on the skin.
The effect of just one or two drops of the Oh! Holy Mary - Cannabis Pleasure Oil on the skin is very strong and definitely pleasant: it doesn't feel warming as I was expecting, but it's more like a strong tingling sensation that reminds of the light vibrations of a sex toy on its lowest settings.
The tickling sensation lasts a lot after the application: on Nuei's official website I read that it's supposed to last for 45 minutes on average, and my experience confirms that.
The Cannabis Sliding Gel
At first sight, the Oh! Holy Mary - Cannabis Sliding Gel looks just like your average water-based lubricant: it's completely translucent, and sold in a pretty 100ml flip-top bottle, which green label is decorated with an unmistakable weed leaf. The product arrives sealed in translucent tape, to guarantee an impeccable hygiene.
On the back of the packaging, the INCI is clear and understandable:
Ingredients: Glycerin, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Aroma, Limonene, Linalool.
Glycerin may be an issue for women who are prone to yeast infections: it's widely used in cosmetics as a moisturizing and emollient agent, but since it's a sugar alcohol, it may promote the growth of candida in predisposed vaginas. Limonene and Linalool are fragrance ingredients.
I'm glad to see that a light Aroma is added to this lube: this way, it won't feel unpleasant if it comes in contact with the mouth during passionate lovemaking.
The Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil is the second product on the list, so its concentration must definitely be high: according to the description of the product on Nuei's official website, this active principle should deliver an enjoyable warming effect.
The lube has a shelf life of 12 months after opening, and it's fully compatible with all sex toys and with latex condoms.
The Oh! Holy Mary - Cannabis Sliding Gel has no scent at all, and it feels lightweight on the skin, with no stickiness nor odd chemical taste. It takes a few seconds to start perceiving the warming effect but, once it has reached its full potential, it definitely stimulates all the right spots, while intensifying all sensations.
I love to use it in combination with the Oh! Holy Mary - Cannabis Pleasure Oil: this way, the strong tingling sensation generated by the stimulating drops is further enhanced by the warming effect of the lube.
Will I get high using those products?
Of course, no: the Cannabis seed extract used in cosmetic product doesn't contain THC, the psychoactive substance found in weed. The sex essentials from the Oh! Holy Mary range are completely safe and with no side effects.
In Summary
The Oh! Holy Mary - Cannabis Pleasure Oil and Sliding Gel are high-quality stimulating products: they won't get you high, but they will truly intensify sexual pleasure, especially if used together.
If I could change something in them, perhaps I would choose a more sensual fragrance for the Pleasure Oil.
