Today I'm gonna talk about the new short erotic film available at PinkLabel.tv: BIRTHDAY directed by Shine Louise Houston, that my readers already know as director of the ethical, queer porn series Crash Pad.
I had already seen SNAPSHOT by Shine Louise and I remember I really enjoyed it: the engaging thriller plot, the intimate and natural sex scenes, the realistic personalities of the characters. That's why I had great expectations about BIRTHDAY: I expected the same cinematic aesthetic, interesting plot and realistic sex scenes I saw already in SNAPSHOT.
But first, let me preface this by saying I'm terrible at reviewing movies: I always fall in the category of 'spoilers', ruining the surprise and the suspence for my many readers who instead just wanted to know is an erotic movie is worth a sexy evening with their partner or not.
This time I won't reveal too much, I promise :)
Let's say first that my experience browsing PinkLabel.tv has been easy and pleasant: after logging in, I found the short movie already listed in 'My List': I can see there, waiting for me, the artful cover that reminds me a little of Erika Lust's ones I already love.
A quick browsing through the website lets me know in 'My List' appear the movies I rent for 2 days at $9.95, and in 'My Library' the movies I buy to watch forever at $13.95. No download option is available.
I like on-demand services: sometimes I just want a single erotic movie to spice up a weekend night with my long distance Daddy, but I'm not ready to commit to a long-term subscription that guarantees hundreds of scenes I don't have the time to watch during the week. But I also love that there's a subscription option for who plans to spend more hours per week watching porn than me: starting at 9.99$ per month with the yearly subscription you have hundreds of erotic movies to watch as often as you want.
The choice of movies is complete but selective at the same time: here I only can see studios I knew for their cinematic, high quality productions and their ethical way of working, like Sssh.com, Erika Lust Films, Aorta Films, and so on. Browsing through the categories is intuitive and the website experience is fluid on my Windows laptop with the latest version of Chrome installed.
But let's come back to BIRTHDAY. I can see under the player that its runtime is 7 minutes: the perfect length for my porn that I prefer to end before I start ignoring it for other sexy things...
I won't reveal anything about the plot, but I will anticipate it's very romantic and I must admit it's been touching to me in some way: the delicate queer love story between the two protagonists Barbary Rose and Neena Feelmore is meaningful without feeling like a soap opera.
I'm also surprised to see that one of the protagonists, Neena Feelmore, has a non-sex role: I can immediately understand here we are so far away from most mainstream porn love comedies where the plots are distorted to allow for sex! I already admired Neena for being the owner of the Feelmore adult gallery where she offers the best quality sex toys on the market in a sex-positive environment.
From the other side, who's more gorgeous, fiery and incredibly confident in her own skin than Barbary Rose? Spoiler alert: I loved how confident she is in her golden shower performance in BIRTHDAY movie.
Sex scenes are natural, realistic and I feel the focus is on intimacy exactly as I'm used to see in Crash Pad episodes. The rest of the cast, Sal Marquez, Jack HammerXL, Jasper Stone, and Ruckus, do a great job performing in scenes they're clearly enjoying and I can say my expectations have been fulfilled!
Definitely a movie worth seeing for everyone who enjoys cinematic, ethical porn with a plot. If you'd like to see it, BIRTHDAY is exclusively available at pinklabel.tv.
