My first time trying sex essentials from ST Rubber!
Sex lube is a must-have in my bedroom: I started using it while experiencing some vaginal dryness issues because of my contraceptive pill, and I can’t do without it anymore.
Even now that I’m no more in pain during lovemaking with my partner, I keep on never letting myself run out of lubricant: it’s essential for us both to enjoy our sex toys, and to enjoy more comfort and deeper stimulation on all of our internal and external erogenous zones.
So, I was more than happy when ST Rubber agreed to send me some samples of the sex essentials from their best brands: Joyride and BeauMents. I say sex essentials because there are not only lubes, but even another of my must-haves, a toy cleaner!
All of those erotic cosmetics are manufactured by Cobeco Pharma, one of the most trusted companies in the industry: I’ve used many of their products for ages. So, I’m really expecting great quality from those goodies!
Joyride Glide Water based Lubricant
I confess I had never heard about the brand Joyride before trying this lube: what a shame!
This glide has quickly become one of my favourites: at a first glance, the 50 ml bottle may seem small, but a little product goes a long way and I feel like it lasts longer than my average water based lube. It doesn’t feel sticky at all, and it has no odor.
Also, the compact bottle is very portable and practical during my travels, while the pump dispenser makes use easier: it provides just the right amount of lube, with less distractions in the heat of the moment.
But let’s look at the INCI, written on the back of the cute green and white bottle:
Ingredients: Aqua, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate
Well, the first thing that catches my attention is that Glycerin isn’t the best ingredient for women with sensitivities: since it’s derived from sugar, it may trigger yeast infections in predisposed vaginas. If you suffer frequently from this kind of medical issue, maybe the Joyride Glide isn’t the best water-based lubricant for you.
Hydroxyethylcellulose is an emulsifier, while Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate are preservatives.
Joyride Toy Cleaner
Never overlook the hygiene of your sex toys! While some dildos made from high quality silicone can be boiled, bleached or washed in the dishwasher with the sanitizing cycle, there’s no other way to ensure the best hygiene of vibrating toys or non-silicone ones thann using a good antibacterial, specific cleaner.
The feature I love the most in the Joyride Cleaner for Toys & Body is that it’s delicate enough not only for my most beloved vibrators, but also to be used on the human skin. This way, when travelling, I don’t need to carry both a toy cleaner and my usual hand sanitizer: I can have them both in the same product!
Its pH value of 4-4.0 won’t disrupt the vagina’s delicate balance, even during those awkward post-quickie situations when you don’t have your intimate wash on hand: to be honest, the Joyride Cleaner came in handy more than once to me when using public restrooms in railway stations, coffee shops, and so on. Again, I find it a very clever multi-purpose solution, and I try to never leave for a trip without it in my backpack.
Last but not least, let’s take a look at its INCI:
Ingredients: Aqua, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Lactic Acid, Panthenol, Parfum, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil
Again, many women who suffer from frequent yeast infections may experience issues with Glycerin: if this is the case for you, I’d suggest that you look for another 2-in-1 cleaner fro sex toys and body.
Panthenol and Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract are soothing, moisturizing and anti-redness ingredients: that’s why this spray is so delicate even on the intimate skin! Lactic Acid regulates its pH to a vagina-friendly value.
PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is an emulsifier, while Caprylyl Glycol is both a skin conditioner and a mild antibacterial agent.
BeauMents Glide water based lubricant
This product is just my basic water based lube: non-sticky, non-greasy, odorless and tasteless. My partner and I found that it’s quite long lasting, and that it has nearly the same texture as the Joyride Glide.
The 100 ml bottle is very colorful, but I’m not that much in love with the screw cap: looks like it could be sturdier to avoid breaking inside my suitcase when on the go.
However, the product arrived sealed in a plastic wrap, so it can’t spill during shipping.
Let’s take a look at the product’s INCI:
Ingredients: Aqua, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate
As you can see, the INCI is identical to the one of the Joyride Glide.
BeauMents Glide Silicone Lubricant
This one is my favourite of the products I’ve tested for today’s review: it has an incredibly smooth, velvety texture.
It’s no surprise that the only two ingredients found in its INCI, Dimethicone and Cyclopentasiloxane, are skin-smoothing silicones found in high-end cosmetics, like face primers, beauty serums and anti-wrinkle products.
On the erogenous zones, instead, the two ingredients create a protective coating, responsible for that incredible, long-lasting gliding effect that I’ve only experienced with silicone lubes so far. It’s also waterproof, and my partner and I loved to try it in the shower, too ;) .
Sadly, there’s always a downside: this product is incompatible with sex toys made from silicone. I’ve heard other bloggers say that putting silicone-based sex lube on their favourite silicone vibrator made its material permanently sticky, and was impossible to wash off. Luckily I’ve never experienced anything like that!
However, this product can be used with toys made from other materials, like ABS plastic, TPE, PVC and so on.
