The idea for this Share Our Shit Saturday post came to me while reading this awesome post by Dangerous Lilly about how her low libido, caused by stress and health issues, impacted her life as a sex toy reviewer:
That’s an issue so common when it comes with women who have “vanilla” jobs, but I feel it’s undertalked when it comes to sex bloggers: probably most men (or better, most non-sex blogger people) think we’re nymphomaniacs, so obsessed by sexuality-related topics that we can’t make it without writing a post daily about them. They even can think we get aroused while writing this kind of posts, but I can guarantee you that it’s simply not true!
I can’t talk from the perspective of a full time sex blogger and toy reviewer since I am not: I have my vanilla job that keeps things boring enough to make me still look forward to writing my new toy review with the same enthusiasm of the first time, but I suppose a low libido really has the potential to mess up things for a professional writer when adult product reviewing becomes no more than a boring routine.
Another awesome blogger sharing her personal experience in total honesty is Miss Jezebella, talking about her libido issues due to PCOS:
I feel you, sweet Jezebella! Cycles can really mess up our sex drives and I experience some slow days in the bedroom too when I have heavy PMS.
Another factor I think can play a role with libido is feeling ashamed or judged. That’s why I decided to share this amazing post by Amarna Miller, the famous Spanish porn actress appeared in Erika Lust Films, Crash Pad Series and more, about how she faced the reaction of her family to her job:
I think her experience and her advice is really meaningful here. We should learn to accept our sexuality without letting what family, friends and society think make us uncapable of just being ourselves. I think we all have a lot to learn from sex workers. I wrote about this topic too, in a Fetish Friday post about what to do when family and friends don’t accept your kink.
Here instead Cara Sutra gives useful advice: in her opinion eating well, sleeping regularly, avoiding excessive stress and switching on the fantasy with different scenarios, porn and sex toys are the weapons to defeat a dry spell.
I agree Cara: sexual wellness is directly related to the overall wellness of body and mind.
Then, if you want to try something more to get your sex drive back, Dangerous Lilly has reviewed the Nuelle Fiera Arouser for Her: a device that seems to work by increasing blood flow to your girly parts to boost your desire. I won’t be a spoiler, so see what she thinks of it:
Last but not least, totally from the opposite side, here’s Candy Snatch talking about her “sex addiction” she wisely considers totally normal. Good job, Candy!
Hope you enjoy those beautiful, well written blog posts and happy Share Our Shit Saturday!
